WFG BDM (Business Development Manager)

Role Purpose

The Business Development Manager (BDM) is responsible for driving the growth of WFG’s mortgage and lending portfolio by managing and expanding broker and channel relationships, identifying new business opportunities, and achieving settlement and revenue targets. This role requires strong mortgage industry expertise, a deep understanding of broker-led distribution, and the ability to add value to brokers by supporting deal structuring and case progression. You will manage an established portfolio of aggregator and broker relationships while actively developing new channels to support WFG’s continued growth.

 

Specific Accountabilities:

Business Development

  • Achieve minimum monthly settlement targets and annual settlement targets aligned with WFG’s growth strategy.
  • Develop and execute effective business development and outbound sales strategies to grow WFG’s loan portfolio.
  • Identify, qualify, and pursue new business opportunities through proactive outreach, cold calling, industry networking, and digital platforms.
  • Maintain a strong pipeline of opportunities to ensure consistent performance against targets.

Broker & Channel Management

  • Manage and grow an established portfolio of brokers and aggregator relationships.
  • Build strong, long-term relationships with mortgage brokers, introducers, and strategic partners.
  • Act as a trusted point of contact for brokers, supporting them with case guidance and product knowledge.
  • Assist brokers in understanding WFG’s credit appetite, policies, and lending solutions to improve deal quality and conversion.

Strategic Partnerships

  • Establish and strengthen strategic alliances with banks, mortgage management firms, real estate agencies, and other referral partners.
  • Drive cross-industry cooperation to expand customer reach and referral opportunities.
  • Represent WFG at industry events, broker forums, and networking functions to enhance brand presence.

Internal Collaboration & Market Feedback

  • Coordinate with internal credit, operations, marketing, and product teams to ensure high service standards and positive broker experiences.
  • Provide structured feedback on broker and customer needs to support product development and process improvement.
  • Contribute to WFG’s broader business development planning, including growth initiatives, target segmentation, and execution pathways.

Selection Criteria (Qualifications/Skills/Experience)

Essential Experience & Qualifications

  • 3–7+ years’ experience in Business Development, Account Management, or Sales within the mortgage lending, funder or non-bank lending space. OR previous experience as a Mortgage Broker (minimum 3 years).
  • Strong understanding of the mortgage industry, broker channel dynamics, and end to-end lending processes.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of consumer and business lending principles and practices.
  • Proven experience working in a target-driven, results-oriented sales environment.

Skills & Capabilities

  • Bilingual proficiency in Mandarin and English (essential).
  • Strong relationship management and rapport-building skills.
  • Ability to confidently present and influence a range of audiences, including brokers and senior stakeholders.
  • Strong negotiation skills with the ability to adapt communication styles to different stakeholders.
